Surface Casting
Surface casting, also known as investment casting or lost-wax casting, is a precision casting process that allows for the creation of complex and intricate metal parts. It is valued for its ability to produce parts with excellent surface finish, tight tolerances, and dimensional accuracy.
Process Overview:
Pattern Creation: A wax, plastic, or other suitable material pattern (replica) of the desired part is created. This <a href="https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/pattern%20creation">pattern creation</a> is crucial.
Assembly: Multiple patterns may be attached to a central wax sprue to form a "tree" assembly.
Shell Building: The tree is dipped into a ceramic slurry and then coated with a refractory material (like sand or stucco). This process is repeated multiple times to build up a strong, heat-resistant shell around the wax pattern. Wax Removal (Dewaxing): The wax is melted or burned out of the shell, leaving a hollow cavity. This process is called dewaxing.

Pouring: Molten metal is poured into the preheated ceramic shell.
Cooling and Solidification: The metal is allowed to cool and solidify within the shell.
